If you're stuck in Colorado, its time to fish the Blue. Clint worked the shop throughout the holidays and was amazed at the responses he received from eager anglers. "Anything small and dark," is what Clint reports to be working. He was totally convinced the Blue is fishing well when a group of 5 anglers entered the shop on holiday from the Midwest. Four of the anglers admitted to never fly fishing before and the fifth didn't sound too confident. After Clint set them up with gear and flies he waited for their painful return in defeat - we all know the Blue can be an unwelcoming host to newcomers. To Clint's surprise, the group came back with grins from ear-to-ear and stories of multiple fish landed and missed. So, in conclusion, if the Blue is tipping her hand to novices then its time to face the cold.

Also, for the Denver crowd, don't forget that the Fly Fishing Show is this weekend at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Click here for more details. Be sure to stop by the GLoomis booth and talk to Clint about his Alaska adventures this past Fall.

Bonefish Trip

Hello to all! I certainly hope everyone a great holiday season.

I have secured a week at a lodge in the Bahamas for the winter-weary anglers who need a break from the cold weather and possibly the in-laws. I will be hosting a Bonefishing trip to the wonderful island of Andros.

The lodge itself, Andros South, is a very quaint and unpretentious bonefishing destination with some of the largest bonefish found anywhere. I fished the mangroves and flats of this island several months ago and it was spectacular! There are many large bonefish over ten pounds on the flats as you read this. The average bonefish are around five pounds alone.

I spoke with the lodge manager (and my great friend) John Toker and he has expressed that the big fish are always around and he has been personally seeing fish that he said I would not believe. I trust him in this regard.

The accommodations are clean and comfortable with every angler getting his/her own room. You don't have to listen to your buddy snore all night!! If you are looking for linen tableclothes and butlers this is not the place for you. It serves wonderful local dishes and the dining is relaxed and casual. The emphasis on this place is the bonefishing.

Getting to Andros South is very easy. From Miami it is a very short flight to Nassua and then to Andos. We can also charter a flight from Fort Lauderdale direct to the island.

As a special incentive the lodge will offer us a complimentary day of Blue Water fishing during our stay. They have a virtually unfished deepwater fishery just a few minutes offshore from the lodge. You don't have flyfish the Blue Water if you don't want to, but you might land a huge Billfish!

If you want to get away from the grind, consider coming with us for some seriously fun fishing. Bring your eight weight. I know the notice is short, but these trips are not to be missed!!

The week of the trip is January 20th to the 27th. If you are interested, give me a call at the shop or on my cell and we will arrange your trip. We will be limited to 10 anglers., For more information, you can visit their website androssouth.com.

I hope to see you on the flats!
