Cutthroat Newsletter - 11/18/07

< Return to Newsletter Archive

This seems to be the never ending summer! We appreciate your business and that you're still casting one stick rather than riding two down a ski hill.

The staff at Cutthroat Anglers celebrated the year and took in an Avalanche game complete with adult beverages and kraut dogs (there were no incidents). Thank you Andrew for showing us a great time!

Fishing on the Blue in town has been some of the most consistent late fall fishing around. We have seen notable midge hatches from late morning into the early evening. Remember to stop in and see us throughout the winter, and don't forget to come and spin some thread on a hot vise in one of our fly tying classes.

Winter Fly Tying Classes

newsletter photo

It's hard to think of a better way to spend a snowy winter day than to sit down to a warm fire and a glass of single malt (or Monday Night Football and Busch- whatever you're into), and tie some flies for your favorite hatch.

This winter our house woodsman, comedian, and fly tying extrordinaire, Clint Rossell, will be hosting fly tying classes at Cutthroat Anglers. We offer both a condensed class, which includes six hours of instruction over the course of one day, and a four session complete fly tying class. Clint will provide all tools, roadkill, and other materials necessary, and will cover the techniques needed to tie trout flies. Classes are available daily and can be scheduled to meet your needs. With 10 years of saltwater fly fishing experince, Senor San Cocho is entering his second season as a mate on the 36' Blue Water III based out of Quepos, Costa Rica.

Shane would like to extend an invitation to all of our loyal readers to join him fishing for Billfish and other pelagic (bluewater) fish in Costa Rica January through March of 2008. Changing of the Guard

As many of you may know, our long- time manager Mitch Vogt has moved on to bigger and better things. Mitch has been a familiar face in the shop for the last seven years, and nearly everyone in the County knows the big, strapping palooka! Mitch's vast knowledge of the industry and our community will be missed.

Currently, Mitch and his girlfriend have relocated to the Front Range where Holli is carrying out her new educational pursuits. Dreams of Northern Montana linger in their future. We're gonna miss ya bud.

Taking over for Mitch as manager is guide Chris Hall. Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and new ideas to the position. He is in the process of implementing new and exciting programs that will bring Cutthroat Anglers to the next level. We are all looking forward to Chris bringing his positive attitude to the shop full time. I am looking forward to the upcoming years.

Tight Lines,
Chris Hall and Trapper Rudd
