The South Platte is notorious for providing good winter fishing opportunities provided the wind is under 70 mph. I took a guide trip down to the Dream recently, and even with temperatures dipping into the negative double digits it was very productive. Fish are holding in the deep, slow runs, so concentrate your efforts in these areas. Using an egg or SJ worm as an attractor with a trailing midge seemed to be the ticket.
Recommended Flies: SJ worms, small to medium egg patterns; as well as an assortment of midges and Baetis nymphs including UV Emergers, WD-40's, WD-50's, 5/0 Midges, JuJuBees, RS-2's, Griffith's Gnats, and Brook's Sprouts.
