Blue River below Green Mtn. Res - 06/21/08

Guides Rating: Guides Rating of 5 Stars
Streamflow at time of report: 202cfs

CADDIS MADNESS!!!! We received reports of swarms of caddis below Green Mountain Reservoir and fish feeding everywhere! The flows just dropped to allow Green Mountain to fill. The flow will stay around 200 cfs until the reservoir fills, so expect very good WADE fishing until the reservoir spills over. THIS FLOW IS TOO LOW TO SAFELY FLOAT THE LOWER BLUE!!!!! At least 450 cfs is recommended to float from the dam down to trough road.

Recommended Flies: Tung Teasers, 20 inchers, Barr's stonefly, Wire stone, hotwire caddis, graphic caddis, buckskin caddis, San Juan worms, swing caddis, hot butt caddis

A NOTE ABOUT FLOATING JURASSIC PARK: We have been fielding quite a few calls about floating Jurassic Park. We are strong advocates of boaters rights and want you all to have a good time down there. We are also happy to provide FISHING information, flies and other tackle for this area. We do not however, float this section of river comercially and therefore do not feel comfortable providing information about boating it. The only boating advice we do feel comfortable giving is that there are several obstacles in the river that require strong oarsmanship, and that safe flows vary from boater to boater.
