Blue River in Silverthorne - 06/30/08

Guides Rating: Guides Rating of 3 Stars
Streamflow at time of report: 713cfs

FILL AND SPILL!!! Although the flows continue to increase, fishing in the soft water and along the banks should be extremely productive. Keep an eye out for caddis and PMD's starting to hatch above Green Mountain and working their way up closer to Silverthorne in the weeks ahead. Our guide Matt Hartsel was fishing behing the shop the other day and turned over some rocks and found some Green Drake nymphs, and Reed saw ONE adult flying around as well. Hopefully the flows will subside soon so that we can all get out and fish the Green Drake hatch!

The fishing through Silverthorne has been very consistent especially with Lake Dillon spilling. San Juan worms and Mysis shrimp have been the main stay, but people are reporting catching fish on a few larger patterns as well (PMD, Drake, and Caddis stuff). Be sure to keep the midges handy though as with the warmer water temps there have been HUGE midge hatches. Recommended Flies through Silverthorne: Sands Epoxy Mysis, Randy's Mysis, Solitude Mysis, Miracles, JuJuBees, WD-40's, Johnny Flashes, RS-2's, Randy's Baetis, Miracles, UV Emergers, Black Beauties, Cheeseman Emergers, Hatchinig Midges, Desert Storms, Disco Midges, Crown Jewel, Tung Studs, CDC Prince, Flash Prince, Pink San Juan worms
