CADDIS, CADDIS, and more CADDIS!!!! Throughout the entire stretch from Green Mountain to Silverthorne we are seeing caddis coming off througout the day. There seems to be two major hatches, one occuring in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Fish are taking drys fairly consistently throughout the day, with the better fishing being earlier in the morning and later on in the evening. Along with the caddis, midges are hatching very thick in the morning and fish are rising to the smaller bugs too. We have been seeing a few PMD adults, as well as a handful of Green Drake adults. Fish are looking up for the drakes a little bit, but stick with the caddis drys until the Drakes really start to come off.

The fishing through Silverthorne has remained consistent. San Juan worms and Mysis shrimp have been the main stay, but people are reporting catching fish on a few larger patterns as well (PMD, Drake, and Caddis stuff). Be sure to keep the midges handy though as with the warmer water temps there have been HUGE midge hatches. The caddis are generally coming off later in the day through Silverthorne, and running a double dry set up with a Green Drake down to a caddis may not be a bad idea on a slow, cloudy afternoon...
