It's time to pull out your midge boxes and 6x tippet on the Blue. Fish have been rising to Midge adults on a daily basis and many anglers have been surprised with their level of success lately on this tricky little river. Nymphing With Midges has been productive as well.
The window of opportunity has been from about noon to 3:30, so don't freeze yourself early and end up missing the good stuff!
Low flows out of Lake Dillon are making for easy wading. Expect to catch smaller fish readily on dry flies. If you want to take a shot at a big guy, use smaller bugs, light tippet, and a stealthy approach. Expect to see stronger Midge hatches on cloudy days!
North of town has been fishing really tough lately and might remain that way as we get into winter.
