This is what you wait for all winter. Many anglers are adamant about the Arkansas BWO hatch and Caddis hatch being the best fishing of the entire year! Why would you want to miss this? Dust off your gear and knock the rust off your cast - this is no time for leaky waders or tailing loops!! The BWOs are popping near Salida. Overcast days are definitely the most desirable condition, so watch the forecast and plan accordingly. The only thing that can stop the hatch is a very windy day. Besides that, if you've got 20-feet in your cast, you can't help but catch fish.

The water is dropping and will stable by the end of the weekend. It is predicted that the flows should stay steady till the end of May when run-off kicks in. Take advantage of the stable conditions!!

For fly selection, try Hi-Vis Para Blue winged Olives, Snowshoe Duns, or Comparaduns for rising fish. If they aren't rising, no problem. Nymphing is also outstanding! Hot flies include Chartreuse Copper Johns sizes 16-18, Barr's Graphic Caddis, Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails, Beadhead Barr's Emergers, and Big Bear Baetis.

Black Foam Caddis are the fly of choice when the Caddis pop. We have a variety in stock, so stop in or call to get your hands on a few dozen.

The good fishing on the Ark will continue through late May, and then again in early-mid July. The best days go quick, so book a guide trip today! Don't miss it! This is really the place to be right now.
