The lakes are surrounded by open prairie land, which offers panoramic views of majestic, mountain landscapes. Even though the lakes are next to each other, the hatches and fishing conditions can be very localized.
The brown trout population in North Delaney Lake is so healthy that the Division of Wildlife collects eggs from the resident trout to supplement their stock.
The lakes have prolific damselfly, Callibaetis, and choronomid hatches. Anglers can sight fish to cruising fish sipping dry flies. When no hatch is present, anglers will find fish nymphing weed beds and drop offs.
