Hidden in plain view, Gore Creek flows through the middle of Vail Resort. Originating in the upper reaches of the Gore Range, this stream quickly tumbles through Vail during its trek to joining the Eagle River west of Vail at Dowds Junction. This little creek could be classified as an aquarium because of the numerous trout holding in the crystal clear water.

Upper Gore Creek, from the headwaters to the Gore Creek Campground, is only accessible via a hiking trail. This is tiny pocket water and small trout. Gore Creek is most known for the stretch from Red Sandstone Creek downstream to the Eagle. This area has been designated as Gold Medal Water and offers prime habitat for trout over 18-inches.
Featuring prolific hatches and healthy trout, Gore Creek is an excellent prospect for any angler looking to wet a line. The Gore follows similar hatch patterns to the Eagle and offers anglers dry fly action through the day during peak conditions. Gore Creek is a perfect option in tandem with the Eagle River.
Surrounded by one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the world, anglers will find almost unlimited alternative activities to please the non-angler. Prime boutique shopping and many of the areas best restaurants line the stream to complete a perfect day on the river.
