Cutthroat Anglers Owner Trapper Rudd with fish

Meet Our Guides

Chris Hall

After beginning his fly fishing career in the Midwest mainly targeting smallmouth bass, Chris moved west to immerse himself in world of big rivers and wild trout. Chris tweaked a famous chorus line that helped change his life – “Changes in Altitude, Changes in Attitude.” Instead of umbrella drinks and sunburns, he traded Midwest life for drift boats, double dries and drag free drifts. While he is willing to guide anywhere at anytime, Chris is most comfortable behind the oars of a drift boat. He is happiest when floating down the Colorado River in a boat a little bigger than a bath tub.

Chris's Client Frank Bowman

I want to thank you for the fantastic float trip that you provided to my son & me. We not only caught a lot of fish but you also passed on useful information which will help us be better fishermen. I would not hesitate to recommend you anyone interested in a quality day on the water.

- Frank Bowman

In the winter, Chris indulges himself in the fine art of telemark skiing. When not standing in lift lines or skinning up a hill, you’ll probably find Chris with a bend in his rod and a fish pulling hard for the upper hand.

Before joining the ranks of fly fishing bums, Chris played lead guitar for a number of bands. While many dream of the rock star lifestyle, Chris traded in the groupie following and legendary guitar riffs for the over-glorified position of living the dream as a fly fishing guide. Today, Chris is master of the “campfire ditty.”

If he is not on the river, you will find Chris glued to a chair around the guide table, locally known as the Center of the Universe. Chris is constantly sharing fish tales and river adventures. He also finds time to improve his MacGyver river engineering skills – because you never know what might go wrong when you’re in the middle of nowhere.

Cutthroat Anglers' Guide Chris Hall

Whether you're a beginner or an accomplished angler, Chris has the patience, skills, and teaching ability to help take you to the next level. And whether you are his client or best friend, it invariably pleases Chris whenever someone catches a fish with him.
