Dan “The Man” was a professional extreme skier, but inherent hazards of the trade caused him to tone it down to a reasonable level. He’s also the unofficial Mayor of Frisco. Now he pursues the quiet sport – fly fishing. The Mayor still corks it out on the slopes when Old Man Winter takes over the Rockies; however, the call of rising trout and tumbling streams now mesmerize him.
Growing up in the Northwest, Dan found his love for the outdoors at an early age. With the Colombia clothing manufacturer’s world headquarters located almost out his backdoor, Dan was at least well equipped for outdoor adventures. He eventually moved to Colorado for the steep runs and deep snow; however, since you can’t ski all year, Dan found the exploits of fly fishing to be the perfect Yang to compensate the intensity of his skiing Yin.
“The guy had us on fish from the word go and that continued throughtout the whole day. His knowledge of the sport of fly fishing is second to none. I was most impressed with his patience and encouragement throughout the experience.”
- Ryan Caswell
The Mayor is always in search of new water, so during his off days he is hard to find. He’s usually trekking an unnamed road or trail in search of trout. His explorations are not considered a success until he leaves all cell phone coverage. Dan’s probably fished more small creeks and beaver ponds than most anglers combined.
Dan possesses an invigorating enthusiasm for fly fishing that is infectious to his clients. In the end, Dan just loves to be around people. To help make ends meet, he worked at one of the bars in Frisco.
Dan can carry on a conversation with anyone, and sometimes can talk too much. Luckily, he finds times in between his rants to catch more than his fair share of trout. His clients are treated not only to a memorable day of fly fishing, but also a tour guide-like trip around the county.
