Cutthroat Anglers Owner Trapper Rudd with fish

Meet Our Guides

Barry Kirkpatrick
a.k.a. The Great One
Emeritus-Owner/Guide/Shop Manager/Local Druid

Barry came to Colorado a few decades ago to experience the majestic Rocky Mountains firsthand…he never left. To fill his time, he worked at Copper Mountain Resort during the winter where he met Trapper. The rest is history.

We have to keep Barry in the shop and away from guiding so as not to intimidate other guides. When he wades into a river, the fish gather and battle to see who can grab his fly first. This is an extraordinary natural phenomenon, one that few ever experience. Many renowned Zen masters travel from around the world to study the Great One’s habits in an attempt to explain his golden touch.

Barry is the constant force that keeps Cutthroat Anglers afloat. He wears a multitude of hats and thus performs untold miracles around the shop. Without the guidance and patience of the Great One, the ship known as Cutthroat Anglers would likely have sunk years ago.

Next time you are within a few thousand miles of the shop, do yourself a favor and be sure to stop in to be graced with the infinite wisdom of the Great One. A personal tip from Barry is considered a direct link to Poseidon.

Barry recently decided to spread his provincial influence to Montana. While his indelible touch will continue to guide Cutthroat Anglers, Barry is spending the majority of his time with his family and any trout willing to rise to a dry fly.

We’d like to tell you exactly where he is, but, if you don’t already know, I guess you weren’t on the need-to-know list. Like most Jedi Masters, the Great One chose to quietly melt into his own personal paradise, and, while his legacy will remain forever, we can’t wait to road trip to Montana to fish with him.
