Hagen Lyle

Hagen loves to get away from the crowds to fish small streams. He says he is in search of solitude, but whatever his reasons, we can certainly vouch for his professional fishing skills. As co-head guide, Hagen plays musical chairs with the guide staff in an attempt to keep everyone happy. His relaxed demeanor and small streams are probably the only reason he stays sane.

During the winter, Hagen builds snowmen and ice caves. In his free time, he is also the head of Copper Mountain’s Ski Patrol – he obviously cannot get enough of adults with Peter Pan syndrome. Feel free to peg him with a snowball the next time you see him on slopes.

When not on the river, Hagen spends his summer free time tearing up the area golf courses. He calls it golf, but we think it more resembles a construction zone. Through sheer determination, his handicap is approaching single digits, so maybe there is some hidden talent locked away. He also has a new found love for sailing. Slicing through the frigid water of Lake Dillon with the wind at his back seems to be a perfect therapeutic release.

While he may not threaten Tiger Woods anytime soon, Hagen has built a strong following of loyal, repeat customers over the past decade. Many of his clients are high-powered business executives who turn to Hagen for rejuvenation through his carefree attitude. It doesn’t hurt that his clients usually have banner fishing days and have to come in early because they are exhausted from fighting fish all day. Hagen constantly proselytizes his followers into both respectable anglers and relaxed individuals.
