Shooter Smith

Shooter started working at the shop during his summer breaks from college at Rice University. We’re still trying to figure out how to make him leave. While in college, he braved the blistering winds and extreme humidity of the Texas coast in search of tailing redfish. Now he writes our newsletters and bounces in and out of the shop when he’s not fishing.

Shooter continues to test his mettle in the corporate world trying to mix fly fishing with a real job. We’re not sure why you’d want a real job, but if it involves fly fishing we guess it should be a big hit.

Hosting the shop’s annual fantasy football league, Shooter still has not managed to devise a plan to allow him to win the championship. As acting commissioner, we think the countless hours he spends in pursuit of a football championship might have something to do with why he cannot find a real job.

We’re happy to have Shooter as a member of the shop. He tries to keep us up to date on the advantages of the internet and new technologies, but we’re just fishermen so we are slow learners.

Shooter also injects added organization into a system that sometimes feels like we’re flying at 100-mph with our hair on fire. He also wrote the majority of the content for our site and spearheaded the efforts to revamp the site, so, if you find a typo, yell at him!
