Cutthroat Anglers Owner Trapper Rudd with fish

Meet Our Guides

Baylor Street

Baylor joined the guide staff for the 2004 season, but don’t think he is by any means a rookie. He was the head guide for another shop in the area and migrated to Cutthroat Anglers to experience an upgrade to the “big leagues” of guide staffs. We believe his move benefited both the shop and his career.

Baylor spends countless hours behind the oars on the Colorado River. His expertise makes him a perfect angling sherpa for the angler looking to master the Colorado from a raft. Baylor’s body rhythms seem to be tied to the currents of the Colorado because he has an uncanny ability to find feeding fish when others have long given up. For a while he lived in South Park, so he also knows the small streams and tributaries of the South Platte drainage like the back of his hand.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed my two days of fishing with Baylor Street. I've fished with many guides, and I can truly say he is the best of the best. I've never seen such enthusiasm, patience, willingness to teach, and of course I was totally impressed with his knowledge of the river.

- Alan Broner

Due to his calm and self-confident demeanor, Baylor is a perfect fit to ease a client’s trepidation of fly fishing. He is the essence of today’s “urban mountain man.” While the Grizzly Adams style faded after the Gold Rush, Baylor plays the new role perfectly – fly fishing bum in the summer and ski bum in the winter – both while outfitted in the finest gear available.

A day on the water with Baylor will help diminish any anglers vexing attitude towards fly fishing. His no nonsense approach to fly rodding and mountain life in general will leave almost anyone with a yearning to drop their chaotic, corporate lifestyle to find their own inner sanctuary in the Rocky Mountains.
